Desperation

Heavenly Father,

My heart is cold, and my mind is numb. I run from the opportunity to connect with you. And yet even in this state, I remember the sweetness of your presence. I have sought you and found you. I long to long for you again. Overcome the distractions and distortions that keep me from reaching out to you. Meet with me despite my half-heartedness. Be the delight of my life again. Purge me of the guilt of sin. Crucify all the desires for things that are contrary to your will. Bind my wandering heart firmly to yourself. Even now, I am skeptical and cynical. I need you in this moment and all those that are to come. Rekindle the fire of love for you in my innermost being. Don’t leave me here.
