Everlasting

Heavenly Father,

Before the mountains were formed or the dry land emerged, you were God. From everlasting to everlasting, you reign over all. We creatures are born, die, and return to the dust, but you never change. You exist within the eternal fellowship of the trinity, knowing deeper love than any created thing can conceive. Out of your excess of joy and compassion, you spoke forth all of creation. Time itself is a work of your hand. You set the lights in the sky that we may mark its passage. You are the ultimate author. You penned the story of salvation before the first beast took a breath. My name was in your book of life before my ancestors came to be. And you walk with me in the day-to-day toils, tribulations, and triumphs of life. Though far too often, I am too preoccupied to realize it, you are my constant companion. Open my eyes to your presence in the pleasures and pains. May I live my life as an act of worship to you. Be honored in the most profound and mundane aspects of my life.

In the name of him who became sin on my behalf. Amen.
