Have to
Heavenly Father,
I feel like I “have to” spend time with you this morning. I know it is best for me to do it, but I don’t feel the desire. So I come with the fervent hope that you will kindle my passions. Awaken my spirit to your glory. I have tasted you and know you are good. In your presence are innumerable pleasures. In spite of my coldness this morning, I come to you. I thank you for the grace of discipline that I might overcome my lack of emotions to do the right thing. I ask that you would faithfully provide the motivating desire to follow you. While I wait, I ask that you would continue to provide the will to follow you. You are God and are greatly to be praised. May I not abdicate the calling of worship to the rocks of the ground. Despite everything, I thank you. You have blessed me beyond reason. Keep my mind on things that are admirable and praiseworthy. Don’t let me fall into temptation.
In the name of the one who endured the cross. Amen.
