Impatience
Heavenly Father,
You exist outside of time and space. You are in a state of absolute joy within the Godhead. When we look at the horrors of this world, it can be hard to believe that you care. We are impatient and want the results of our prayers right now. If we had your power, we believe we would intervene and fix things. Forgive our arrogance. You care more deeply for each and every person who is suffering than we care about those closest to us. You have a wholly encompassing plan for all of history. Meet us in our anger and discontent. Let us commiserate with you about the state of this fallen world. Draw us closer into you. Help us experience your presence while we wait for the redemption of creation. Let us draw strength from the knowledge that the generations in your Word that died waiting for freedom from Egypt, return from exile, and for the messiah to come did not live or pray in vain. Still, we ask that you would act in the events of the world powerfully and quickly.
In the name of he who is to come. Amen.
