Longing

Heavenly Father,

I long for more of you. I want to say I would do anything to drink more deeply of your presence. The reality is there are things I know I could do but don’t have the will. So I need you to work. Soften the callused places in my heart. Strengthen my desire for you till it overwhelms my resistance. Empower me with your Holy Spirit that I may act out of my new nature. You are better than life, more valuable than gold or silver. Whom do I have in heaven but you? You are my ever-present help in times of crisis. I love you, gracious Father. Time with you is sweet; it fills me with joy. It transforms me more and more into the person you have called me to be, ordering my affections, taming the noise that distracts, and quieting the shame that condemns.

In the only name given under heaven by which we can be saved. Amen.
