Not Forsaken
Heavenly Father,
My God, My God, why haven’t you forsaken me. I turn from you a thousand times a day. I commit sins that nailed your son to the cross, and still you are faithful. When I return to you, you are a father running out to meet his son that was lost. When I am indifferent, you are the woman cleaning the house to find a lost coin. When I don’t know how to return, you are a shepherd leaving the 99 to seek and find me. I stand in awe of you. The words “Thank you” feel inadequate to the task. No collection of eloquent words could ever do justice to your divine grace. I, even me, sit here in the very presence of the almighty. No human could forgive and reconcile after all I have done against you, no human but the one who said, “Neither do I condemn you.”
In the name of he who endured the cross. Amen.
