Oblivious
Heavenly Father,
You are my God, yet I chase after comfort and ease. I am scared to take up my cross and follow you. I sit on the sidelines as a spectator while the war of salvation rages around me. Do not allow me to be oblivious. Inspire my heart to courage. I am frightened to pray such things. My life is so removed from the struggle. I sit in my safe life instead of running the race to win the prize. I want to know more about you and experience you in more profound ways, but I don’t want to have to obey and follow where you lead. This world is fallen, and in desperate need; you have prepared good deeds for me to walk in. Direct my steps. May I be a doer of your word and not a hearer only.
In the name of him to whom belongs the victory. Amen.
