Presence

Heavenly Father,

I am acutely aware of my need for you this morning. I am amazed how I spend so much of my day apart from you. I know that in you is fullness of joy, but still I chase after distractions. You designed work and placed us in our vocations, but still we think we can do our job well without your help. Help me to rely on you more and more each passing day. Make “pray without ceasing” not be a cudgel to beat ourselves but a warm invitation to a more fulfilling life. Bring your word to mind that I may meditate on it throughout the day. Help the truth that I study to stick in my mind and work its way down into my heart. Let practicing your presence become a pervasive discipline in all of my life. I yearn to experience you more profoundly and more often. My loving father, may your arms be ever wrapped around me.
