Psalm 99

Heavenly Father,

You sit enthroned on the cherubim. The earth shakes, and the people tremble before you. Truly you reign. I praise your name; it is awesome and mighty. In your overwhelming power, you love justice. You will bring about righteousness. We stand before you, as have so many who have gone before. From the patriarchs of old to the judges to the prophets to your church today, you answer the calls of your people. You speak to us in a still, small voice. You direct the courses of nations and the life of a single sparrow. We seek to follow hard after you. We long for you as a hart in the desert where there is no water. Come quickly, father. Meet with us. Let us gaze at your loving face. Fill up our hearts with your love and our minds with your truth. Grant us the privilege of following you all the days of our life. Protect us from the evil one and temptation. Do not allow us to wander into things that numb us to your presence. May our repentance be swift and our hearts pure. By the power of your Holy Spirit, mature us into your body that we may be used by you.
