Pursue

Heavenly Father,

“So that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments.” I want to set my hope in you. I want to remember your works. I want to keep your commandments. Send your Holy Spirit that I might be empowered to follow and obey. Keep my motives pure and my motivation strong. Let me see your face. May the joy of my salvation strengthen my resolve. Bring to mind your glorious deeds. I long to pursue you as you pursue me. Yet my will is weak. I often find myself sitting with the opportunity to reach out to you and instead scrolling for distraction. Give me both discipline and desire. Make me want to spend time with you not only in the future but in the now. And fill me with self-control to not only flee sin but to strive for virtue when desires are cold.
