Put on the New Self

Heavenly Father,

My heart feels cold this morning. Awaken me to your overwhelming love. Let me see beauty in your word. Teach me your truth that I may sing praises to your name. There is so much dross obscuring my view of your face. Burn away the sin and distraction with the light of your glory. I am two men: the old self longs for distraction and fleeting pleasures, and the new self longs to sit in your presence and follow your commands. Crucify the old self. Put to death all of my desires for sin. Raise me up again with a pure heart that delights in your law.
