Temptation

Heavenly Father,

Lead me not into temptation. You tempt no one, but temptation is part of the world in which we live. Protect me from the desire to sin. Your way is always better than any other choice we could make. I am weak and my flesh wars against my intention to follow you. A little willpower may win a battle, but victory in the war is dependent on your Holy Spirit transforming my mind and heart. You have defeated sin and death. But the loser continues a guerilla campaign until you set all things right once and for all. Crucify my flesh with Christ that I may be raised to live in the power of your spirit. I confess that my flesh is part of me and I want to indulge it. I know that you are better in my time spent with you. Help me know it in the moment of weakness and temptation. Teach me to say No and turn to you in prayer. Let me invite you into the situations when I am most tempted. Give me final victory over sin that my life may more fully glorify you.
