Thanks for Daily Bread

Heavenly Father,

Give us this day our daily bread. There are many earthly needs common to man, and we also need them. We need food, water, and shelter. We have emotional needs. We need security, acceptance, and peace. We have spiritual needs. We need your presence, wisdom, and word. We thank you that you are the source of all of our needs. All of the things we need this day are gifts of your grace. We pray for them not because we are anxious or unsure of your provision. We pray for them to glorify your power and faithful heart. Teach us to give thanks for all things we are given, both the transcendent and the mundane. Then move our hearts from thanksgiving to adoration. We praise you not just for your gifts but for who you are. The facets of your character are manifest in all of your acts, including your care for us. Let us offer praises that grow and develop over time until they are worthy of you.
