Thanksgiving

Heavenly Father,

You are my God. I am your adopted child., chosen before the foundations of the earth were laid. You receive me with great joy. Even in my reluctance to come into your presence, you welcome me with open arms. I thank you that I am loved. You know me more than I know myself; still, you choose to love. I cannot hide from you, but even if I could, there would be no purpose. You see me as a beloved son in whom you are well pleased. I can deceive others and even myself, but you see things as they truly are. I cannot contradict your pronouncements. You declare me forgiven. You proclaim me free. And thus I am. My heart is mixed this morning. I know the truth, and yet I am not moved to rejoice. Spur me to gratitude and praise. You are worthy of a thousand lifetimes dedicated to exalting your name. My most eloquent words pale before the object of their reverence. So I offer what I have this morning: Thank you.

In the name that is above every name. Amen.
