Uncertain
Heavenly Father,
I am a mortal man who knows only what has already passed, and even then, only from my limited perspective with my limited memory. I see the present, but only with my limited senses. I have doubts about the future. I cannot control it, cannot even predict it. In my smallness, I begin to worry. Teach me to take my eyes off of the shrouded future to come and fix them on the certain God who loves me. You hold the entirety of time in the palm of your hand, from days long before I was conceived to days long after I have died. You know all mysteries; to you, the future is as clear as the present—more than that, you are in control of all things. Your sovereignty is not bound by time and space. All this would bring little comfort without the confident assurance that you are good. You have demonstrated your love in that while I was a sinner, Christ died for me. And you do love me still. So I take heart in the knowledge that you are God. Let me rest in your power.
In the name of the lion of Judah. Amen.
