Walking

Heavenly Father,

I long to walk by the Spirit.  At least I want to long to walk by the Spirit.  I confess that it is complicated because my flesh wants to indulge sinful desires.  It sure feels like those wants are from me.  Free me from my sinful urges.  If I need to live with them, then strengthen my desire to walk with you in perfect unity.  Make yourself my greatest aim.  Don’t lead me into temptation.  Don’t let worldly things entangle me as I run after you.  Don’t let sin cause me to stumble.  Keep my eyes focused on you the author and perfecter of my faith.  I especially pray that you would not let giving into sin discourage me and turn into a pattern.  Transform my heart that when I sin I don’t hide from you like those in the garden.  Give me the grace to turn immediately to confess and restore my fellowship with you.  Holy Spirit, I long to walk with you.
